(PIN or APD) + TIA Optical Receivers


Discovery receivers couple the output of the diodes directly into the amplifier, achieving wide bandwidth and efficiency in a small hermetically sealed package. Six models provide flexibility for matching the needs of short, medium and long reach systems at 10, 12.5, 20 and 40 Gb/sec data rates. All offer a choice of optical fiber pigtail and input connectors, type K and V coaxial RF connectors and convenient bias supply connections. The following lists provide a brief description of each model.

MODEL DSC-R402PIN
  • Linear voltage output up to 1 Vp-p
  • Bandwidth of 30 KHz to 10 GHz (optional DC coupling)
  • Sensitivity of -19 dBm at 10-10 BER
  • Low noise of 16 pA / root Hz (max)
  • Gain flatness of ± 0.75 dB (relative to mean)
  • Low group delay / jitter
  • > 350 V/W at 1550 nm with 500 ohm equivalent transimpedance

MODEL DSC-R401ER
  • Extra bandwidth for wide open eye diagrams with 12.5 Gb RZ data
  • 50 KHz low-frequency cutoff for NRZ data with PRBS of 231-1 word length
  • Low noise of 15 pA / root Hz for high sensitivity
  • Linear voltage output up to 2 Vp-p
  • 30 V/W at 1550 nm

MODEL DSC-R401HG
  • Typical 150 V/W at 1550 nm measured with 10 Gb eye diagram
  • Extra bandwidth for wide open eye diagrams with 12.5 Gb RZ data & 20 Gb NRZ
  • +3 dBm optical overload at 10-12 meets SONET/SDH specification
  • Electrical Return Loss < -10 dB
  • Low noise of 15 pA / root Hz (typical) for high sensitivity
  • 50 KHz (typ.) low-frequency cutoff for NRZ data with PRBS of 231-1 word length
  • AC coupled 2.92 mm coaxial (Type K) output, compatible with SMA

MODEL DSC-R404HG
  • High Gain of 150 V/W
  • Typical sensitivity of -12 dBm at BER 10-9 NRZ PRBS: 223-1, overload of +3 dBm (SONET compliant)
  • Low noise: 20 pA/ root Hz
  • Low optical PDL @ 1550 nm 0.05 dB (typical)
  • High responsivity for 1310, S, C & L wavelength bands
  • Low power dissipation: < 200 mW
  • Low electrical return loss < -10 dB

MODEL DSC-R404AC/DC
  • Linear voltage output > 1 Vp-p
  • Bandwidth of 5 MHz to 35 GHz (For R404AC)
  • Bandwidth of 100 KHz to 35 GHz (For R404DC)
