Length: 5.25"
  Width: 3.125"
Weight: 0.6 lb
Incorporating Discovery's Wide Bandwidth Photodiodes and Receivers

Enhancing optical front-ends was never easier now that the Lab Buddy is available. This small and compact bench top instrument is lightweight and versatile for field demos and lab experiments.

The Lab Buddy provides specific voltages, factory set current limits, and appropriately sequenced biasing for Discovery’s family of Photodiodes and Photoreceivers as well as the NEW 700 Series Balanced Photodiodes.

The Lab Buddy now includes a front panel HIGH QUALITY optical fiber connector(s), which can be easily removed WITHOUT TOOLS, for cleaning the end of the fiber optic ferrule. The use of the Multipurpose Adaptor System makes cleaning of the optical fiber ferrule quick and effortless. The connector type can also be changed in seconds, for example: a FC/PC connector can be changed to a SC/PC connector by purchasing the appropriate additional option.

Highlights
  • Wide Bandwidth PIN versions have an output SMA port to monitor average photo current by I/E conversion.
  • 2-R Limiting Photoreceiver (R601/R602) versions have a V adj knob to manually control the decision point voltage. A dual-use SMA port to record and/or control the ‘DP’ voltage is supplied.
  • APD versions have an APD bias adjust knob along with a SMA monitor port.
  • 700 Series Balanced Photodiode versions have a switch to conveniently monitor the average photo current on either photodiode on a single SMA port. CMRR measurements are simplified with these handy features.
Power Requirements

Supplied with a +12 VDC output wall-mount power source with 100V to 240V 50/60Hz 0.4A AC input, complete with multi-country adaptors.
