Instrumentation Overview

Lab Buddy

Incorporating Discovery's Wide Bandwidth Photodiodes And Receivers

Enhancing optical front ends was never easier! This small and compact bench top instrument is lightweight and versatile for field demos and lab experiments.
The Lab Buddy provides specific voltages, factory set current limits, and appropriately sequenced biasing for Discovery’s family of Photodiodes and Photoreceivers as well as the NEW 700 Series Balanced Photodiodes.

Lab Buddy with Variable Optical Delay

Integrated +/- 300 ps Optical Delay
Ideal for 10 Gb & 40 Gb DPSK

Discovery's Balanced Photodiodes incorporating Variable Optical Delay increases the value added performance and convenience of the Lab Buddy bench top instrument. The Lab Buddy provides specific voltages at factory set current limits for Discovery's Balanced Photodiodes. The NEW 700 Series Balanced Photodiodes may be ordered with a variable optical delay option. This compact bench top instrument provides versatility and convenience for field demos and lab experiments for balanced photodiode applications.

Coherent Systems

Unmatched Sensitivity!

Discovery’s optical coherent receiver systems provide a flexible communications platform with multiple input and output options. They achieve high sensitivity, both with and without an optical pre-amplifier. The systems can also be used at other wavelengths such as 980 nm, 1064 nm, 1310 nm and optical S band. By maintaining the optical phase information, the receivers open up a whole new field of both digital and analog optical signal processing.
